The QuantERA consortium has published its response to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on the upcoming EU Quantum Act. The network supports the introduction of the Act, while stressing that strong and explicit support for research and widening must be at its core.

In its response, QuantERA emphasises that Europe’s quantum industrial capacity depends on sustained basic and applied research across all Technology Readiness Levels. Insufficient attention to research risks creating a structural gap between scientific discovery and industrial deployment, potentially weakening Europe’s competitiveness and strategic autonomy.

While underscoring that EU-level action is indispensable, QuantERA calls for its integration as a cofund instrument into the new EU framework. By pooling resources, ensuring strategic alignment, and fostering inclusive participation, the Programme demonstrates clear added value in strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, cohesion, and long-term security.
