Responsible Research & Innovation (RRI)

QuantERA raises awareness on Responsible Research & Innovation

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is an approach used to describe scientific research and technological development processes that considers the effects and potential impacts on the environment and society through five dimensions:

  • public engagement
  • open access
  • gender
  • ethics
  • science education.

RRI implies to better align both the process and its outcomes with social values, needs and expectations.

QuantERA raises awareness of potential RRI issues with regards to Quantum Technologies (QT) by developing a framework for RRI implications in this field. As an emerging technology, the QT field faces considerable uncertainty in its impacts and still has to go through the social and regulatory development that other ground-breaking areas have already accomplished.
