QuantERA marks its 10th anniversary with a dedicated ‘IQ’ action focused on scientific value brought by the Programme. As research projects are at the heart of QuantERA, our key objective is to show bold and innovative ideas put into action, but most importantly: the people behind them.
QuantERA-funded projects have been invited to prepare materials showing their research and its impact on quantum landscape. Publication of those materials will happen throughout the next months. IQ action finale is planned to take place during the Strategic Conference in Switzerland (28-29th September 2026).
As we reflect on a decade of impact, IQ action is aimed at showcasing the core value of QuantERA Programme: innovative research facilitating progress in quantum technologies (QT). Throughout the anniversary year (2026), we want to show impact coming from QuantERA-funded research projects under Call 2021, Call 2023 and Call 2025.
Special attention is given to the following dimensions:
Gender equality – highlighting the great role female researchers play in QuantERA and emphasising that ‘science has no gender’.
Young researchers – stressing the importance of fresh ideas and new perspective coming from researchers at the beginning of their scientific journey.
Widening participation – underlining the transnational aspect of collaboration – one of the core fundaments of QuantERA. We hope to see how teams from different countries exchange knowledge, skills and work together, as a true synergy example.
Outcomes
While scientific excellence remains the core value of QuantERA, effective communication and dissemination are essential to ensure that research outcomes reach broader audiences and generate lasting impact.
IQ action is focused on putting the spotlight on scientific teams and research they are conducting which contributes to:
Increasing the visibility that helps building new connections between researchers,
Facilitating dialogue for knowledge and technology exchange,
Strengthening outreach and recognizability,
Creating new possibilities of collaboration,
Higher engagement of general public through clear messages explaining key aspects of quantum research,
Sharing scientific evidence relevant for policy discussions.
Materials prepared by participating research projects will be disseminated through official QuantERA channels (website, social media, newsletter). Additionally, a dedicated session will take place during QuantERA Strategic Conference in Basel, Switzerland.
Timeline
IQ action is a part of activities planned for the anniversary year of QuantERA Programme (2026) – which marks a decade from QuantERA official launch.
The action finale is planned during QuantERA Strategic Conference in Basel, Switzerland. The Conference will reflect on QuantERA Programme achievements and impact, as well as outlook for the future. ‘IQ’ will be a significant contribution, showing the scientific impact as presented by the researchers themselves.
Practical information
IQ action is voluntary, although highly encouraged, activity for the QuantERA-funded projects.
Key info:
Target participants: QuantERA-funded projects under Call 2021, Call 2023 and Call 2025,
Format: short piece (preferably video 2–5 min; also animation/presentation/white paper); aimed at the general audience,
Each QuantERA-funded project has its own unique story. From the initial concept, setting up a team of international researchers and developing a detailed plan, to emerging ideas and new paths that unfold into breakthrough discoveries and new concepts.
We invite you to get to know those inspirational stories, as told by the greatest narrators: their creators!
Stay tuned for more! Publication of IQ stories coming soon!
